Q: For those having problems with the iOS 9.3 update please read...

So many people are having problems with the update to iOS 9.3 and the questions are flooding the iOS support forums now. I am hoping that by consolidating some of the information available, it will help some of you without starting hundreds of new threads all asking about the same things.

Please do not shoot the messenger if you already know all of this. I am just trying to help by providing some information To the community. Theses problems are well known, Apple has acknowledged them and is reportedly working on a fix that should be out soon.

Here are some tech site articles that explain the problems if any of you are interested in reading them. They are in no particular order other than what my most recent Google search turned up for me.

This one contains some suggestions that might actually help some of you.

Apple posted these support articles a couple of days ago and they might help some of you as well

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If nothing suggested works for you right now, you will just have to be patient (remember that "please don't shoot the messenger" thing from above ) and wait until Apple issues the fixed software update.

    elcpu,

Both my updated iPhone 5 and iPad 2 are also running iOS 9.3 (13E233) and are ok. I haven't seen any other updates, revisions being pushed out. All my other family devices (another iPad 2 & iPhone 5, and a ipod Touch & an iPad Mini) are still stuck on the "unable to Verify Update" "no longer connected to the Internet" loop.

I'm sure others will disagree, but at some point I wish Apple would stop pushing all these universal updates out for some devices. I could see security patches being pushed out. I just remember when my iPad 2 ran great on iOS 6 & 7, after that it was never the same. And yes, I could choose not to update next time.

Thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated.

I also agree about not pushing the updates, like you I would prefer to be notified of the update without it being auto downloaded to my devices (when on power and on wifi). Oh well...

Yes, BOOKING.COM is the culprit, they apparently used a new facility to store all their URLs in an "association" file that seems to clobber safari searches or anything using URLs. You  need to delete BOOKING.COM and restart SAFARI to fix the problem with links, works immediately no need to wait.

I Did see both of your posts about the size of the update. I just wanted to see what someone else was seeing on their device. I really don't want to download a 1.4GB file without knowing why the update was pushed to my phone.

So here is how I spent the day. AppleCare phone support had me restore my ipad from iTunes. It totally froze. This morning I went to the Apple Store. They got it unfrozen, but the email hylerlinks and Safari still didn't work. Next a higher level Genius Bar guy, wiped the device clean, and manually added each program, apps data etc. He said that trying to restore from a backup just reloads the problem back onto the device. While this method tooks quite a while it worked, and I didn't feel that he was in a rush. so by the end of the day, my ipad 2 works, and finally looks like it's old familiar self.

MY advice, take the problem device to an Apple Store as early in the AM as possible. They won't let you leave until you are happy.

My suggestion to the virtual Apple Teach team, and the QA team, is to test your new updates on All devices, not just the new ones.

I Hope this helps, as it was VERY frustrating for something that should have been caught before its release.

MY soapbox is now closed......for now.

Over dinner I told my wife about our concerns over the 1.3 GB iOS downloads and she kiddingly told me to ask Siri. I needed a laugh so I did. What I did not know was how big a laugh I would get. Siri is smarter than I thought...

I Don't have an update notification on my iPad, just my iPhone. Both devices were updated without issue on the day that iOS 9.3 was released. I do not understand why I got the notification on the phone. I need to do more research.

I Do not want to have this bug on my phone.

Where does one find the "build" number suffix? (the build number has changed, if I recall... but my brain is almost overwhelmed by data on this subject)

    Settings > General > About > Version

Edit: Please note that this article states that the new build is 12E5237. This is incorrect, the new build is 12E237

You might consider saying "For ME, ...." instead of blanket statement of fact for everyone - not disputing your experience at all, but other folks may not even know what Booking.com is

Hard to know if the new version, 13E237, has solved the issues with activation or not. This is the second thread tonight suggesting that it has not.
