Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

    WHERE IS APPLE RESPONSE???!

Someday, I chose iPhone because it was free of such annoying glitches.

Right now, I am looking for a smartphone produced by reliable firm. It's because my irritation and lack of any reaction.

This is ridiculous and shame for Apple. I cannot believe that such glitch is not discovered before launching new iOS.

    Congratulations.

same here. restarting Safari or the complete iPhone does not help. So we have to wait for an update which addresses the issue.

Apple is not able to give an answer, they can't open the link to this post on their devices .

Now seriously, very very disappointed. I have the same issue on an iPhone 6s 64gb. Using dolphin browser to ride it on...

I am having the same problems.  I called Apple and it was recommended I do a back up and restore.  That did not work.  I was online with Sprint for an hour and they tried resetting it several ways that did not work.  I just have to say I always wait till the last minute to do updates as I always have issues.  The problem with email started before I did the update and continued after the update.  My Safari freezing and not be able to open links started yesterday.  Still can't open links in my email and still freezing since Sunday.  Sure hope this is fixed soon.  I tried clearing websites and resetting settings and no help.

Looks like patience is needed until Apple fixes this.  Hope it is soon, as this is frustrating ,and frustrating when paying for service and devices and I am unable to use them to the full capacity.

    The same for me.

I updated my iPhone 6S Plus 128MB with the iOS 9.3 from the version 9.2.1. After some days working fine i have since three days the problem with Safari and Web Links in the E-Mail App.

For me nothing works. JavaScript or using Bing don't helps. Rebooting the iPhone or a complete Reset also didn't help.

I need my phone for business so this is really a big issue.

And the most terrible thing is that i don't know if Apple works on this and how long i must wait for a solution.

In my case I have the problem in my iPhone 6, but iPad 2 is fine with 8.3.

I found the solution (until 8.3.1 is released):

    • Use Outlook
    • Use Opera Coast
    • Setup Outlook to open links in Opera Coast

And then say bye to Mail and Safari, I'm testing Outlook and Coast and they are great!!!

Sorry Apple, third party sw sometimes works better than yours.

Yup, using a similar solution, which I might make permanent. Outlook is a great replacement for Mail, has many nice features that Mail does not. Chrome is my browser choice for both iPhone and PC. The mobile and PC version syncs nicely with each other, which is plus on its own.

I too had the same issue on my iPhone 6S. I did a full recovery/restore and updated to 9.3 (13E234) and now the issue is no more.

Do a DFU Recovery from iTunes and everything should be fine. It works

Links doesn't work on Safari and multiple apps.

I was with iOS 9.2 (iPhone 6) and about 4 days ago links start to malfunction on various apps.

On Safari I couldn't navigate anymore beside Google searching. Switch to Chrome, same symptom.

Apps will freeze if I click on a URL especially in Mail.

I had Booking.com app installed on iOS 9.2, remove it but links doesn't worked as expected.

Update yesterday to iOS 9.3 hopping that would solve this issue but it won't... then I've Googling around (on my computer) and saw ALL people complains with the same issues!

Suddenly this happened on iOS 9.2 before (and after) the update to iOS 9.3.

Dont just update from the recovery mode. Restore and Update - iOS 9.3 will download its around 2GB
