Q: In iOS 9.2, how do I turn off Directions when using Maps?

I am looking to turn off the Directions feature when using Maps. I find that it covers much of the map that I want to see & I rarely use Directions.

iPad 2, iOS 9.2.1

There should be a Done button on the right top corner when Directions are displayed - pressing that should get to the prior screen

In previous iOS's "Directions" could be turned on when you wanted them. In iOS 9.2, Directions show as the default setting and I have been looking for a way to defeat this.I normally prefer not to see Directions as it takes up about 1/3 of the screen. I travel extensively and like to use Maps in my travel planning.

9.2 has a Clear and a Share button, but not the Done button as before. If I use the Clear button, the route that I am looking at goes away.

    Thanks for your response.

Did anyone figure this out.  It used to be you could just see your route on the map (ipad, full screen) now it seems the only way to see the route is with the turn by turn directions on the left third of screen. Surely there is a way to disable this I am simply not seeing? Thanks
