Q: What is "iCloud Security Code"?
I upgraded to iOS 9.3 on my 6S and now Apple is asking me to input my "iCloud Security Code" or verify the iPhone from another device in order to access Photos storage. I used my iPad to verify it once, but this morning I got the same message when I opened the iPhone. WHAT is the Security Code? Do they mean my iCloud user password? If so, why change the term? Or is there something I'm not understanding?
I haven't activated iCloud Drive yet because I only have Yosemite on my Macbook Air (and I need El Capitan I think). I'll update when I'm sure all my legacy programs and docs are accounted for. But until then I'll err on the side of caution.
So I'm left with -- what is the iCloud Security Code ??

The iCloud Security Code is related to the iCloud Keychain. See:
Frequently asked questions about iCloud Keychain - Apple Support
especially the section:
What is the iCloud Security Code?
When you set up iCloud Keychain, you can create an iCloud Security Code. It can be a 4-digit code similar to the passcode lock for your device, or you can have a more complex code automatically generated for you. The iCloud Security Code is used to authorize additional devices to use your iCloud Keychain. It's also used to verify your identity so that you can perform other iCloud Keychain actions, such as recovering your iCloud Keychain if you lose all your devices.
