Q: I have found a pretty good probook. Retina Mid-2012 - MC976LL/A. I want concrete steps to find the original owner to return this propbook.

Please support to find the original owner of a Retina Mid-2012 - MC976LL/A.

Serial number of the laptop; C0**********KQ2

verification of the identity of the rightfull owner will be the name used as the the administrator account.

As far as i can concern the original owner can be found by using the serial number. But i have no intention to put that much effort. Im not part of the Apple fan base and have no intentions to become as such. Registering is the last and final step that i will perform to do 'the right thing'  This machine is expensive and i would like to do right to the person whom purchased this laptop.

    No, you intend to steal it, you have already told us that. So we know what type of person you are.

    Yes you are right. But if somebody wants to share a functional reply to get a 1300 euro laptop back in a country where the average salary is around 400 euro. That would be appriciated. Regardless how you want to profile my character

    How many times do you need to be told what to do? It is very evident to us that you always intended to keep it for yourself and are now looking for justification and rationalization for doing so.

    Product manufacturers are not in the business of returning lost/stolen items to rightful owners.

    Just going by what you say, you intend to keep the Mac you found even though it is not yours. That is stealing.

    So the only way to satisfy this public discussion is to give the laptop to the lost and found desk. Even if they have no claim for such item?  And thus it will not get back to the rightfull owner.

    No. If somebody wants to give me a answer what actually gets it back I'm all ears

    If you found this laptop in or near a public place. there is a very good likelihood that the owner would be going back to look for it.Good conscience would say to check back to the place where you found it or report to the police.  Would you not wish someone to do the same for you?  It is possible that the person who lost it is on a plane bound for somewhere and may have had no opportunity to report or check on it as of yet. Making the airport or airlines aware of it. And if turned into the police or the airport with information as to where it is ,so the person can recover it would be the best way to go about it.

    Dear,

    There are two questions here;

    One is the moral right thing; thus if everybody would steal society as we know it can't exist and anarchy would rule. There is no need to gather food anymore another person can come and just takes it from you. If I'm a thief so be it. That is not relevant for my question. Even its not very nice to hear.

    Second is getting this laptop back to the rightfull owner.  Bringing it back to the place I found it I tried (including the lost and found department) and does not have the result I aim for. As mentioned in previous posts.

    So yes if I would loose such a expensive device I would also like to get it back! So how am I going to achieve that goal for the original owner of this laptop?

    To make it more easy and avoid moral (nonfunctional) questioning; I want to give it back to him from my own hands.

    I found a post where someone found an Ipad. And called apple and gave them the serial number. Gave them the info as to how to contact them. The person who lost it contacted them and worked out how to return it.https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2669051?tstart=0 Apparently apple can contact the owner, but will not give you that contact infromation as it is personal.
