Q: For those having problems with the iOS 9.3 update please read...

So many people are having problems with the update to iOS 9.3 and the questions are flooding the iOS support forums now. I am hoping that by consolidating some of the information available, it will help some of you without starting hundreds of new threads all asking about the same things.

Please do not shoot the messenger if you already know all of this. I am just trying to help by providing some information To the community. Theses problems are well known, Apple has acknowledged them and is reportedly working on a fix that should be out soon.

Here are some tech site articles that explain the problems if any of you are interested in reading them. They are in no particular order other than what my most recent Google search turned up for me.

http://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/25/apple-ios93-ipad-2-update-bugs-remain/

This one contains some suggestions that might actually help some of you.

http://osxdaily.com/2016/03/25/troubleshooting-ios-9-3-update-problems/

Apple posted these support articles a couple of days ago and they might help some of you as well

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If nothing suggested works for you right now, you will just have to be patient (remember that "please don't shoot the messenger" thing from above ) and wait until Apple issues the fixed software update.

Edit: Please note that this article states that the new build is 12E5237. This is incorrect, the new build is 12E237

    Late to the party here.

I just checked mine (no problems) and I have 9.3 build 12E233. There is a notification that a newer build 1.3 GB is available. Based on what I've been seeing, that would be the problematic E237 ?

If that is the case, I am going to stick with my previous build for now.

I am seeing exactly what you are seeing on my iPhone. Same build (13E233) after a completely successful download and install of iOS 9.3 on the day that it was released. Now another update is appearing in my settings. I will stick with my current build as well until I am convinced that this new build is OK.

Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable.

This discussion is one of those never ending, long winded, "will it ever end" kind of threads. I hate disussions like this. I wish I could get my hands on the clown that started the whole thing and give him a piece of my mind!   I wouldn't mind so much, if tapping or clicking on Latest Reply actually worked for me. It has never worked with any consistency at all and is back to not working again on my iPad.

Thank you very much for the links. The Sidney Morning Times article was particularly informative. It states that "As far as the Universal Links issue specifically, Apple has acknowledged the problem, issuing the following statement: We are aware of this issue, and we will release a fix in a software update soon."

    http://www.smh.com.au/technology/mobiles/apples-ios-93-has-more-bugs-and-you-bet ter-get-used-to-it-20160329-gnsvhj.html

Since a newer build will be issued "soon" I see no need to update to 237 unless one is having issues now.

I also found the following statement very telling:

"It's become clear these issues aren't solely reflective of any carelessness or hubris on Apple's part, but rather of the reality that the company literally can't test its software rigorously enough to weed out all the bugs anymore."

Just my two cents, but anyone that can take their device to an Apple Store should do that.  They are aware of the problem, and fixed mine within 1 hour.  A lot less frustrating than spending days trying to do it myself.

P.S.  This was reported on the news yesterday, so the cat is out of the bag.  In fact one of the newscasters laughed and said "does anything ever NOT ave a bug when first released?"

Perhaps the software engineers have been laid off  to pay the salaries for the new, more glamorous, Jony Ivie high-end fashion statement trivialized Apple that is emerging. Maybe I'm still grumpy about Aperture...

I Am using an iPad Air 2, I have not done the new update 9.3 and i am still using the  9.2.1. I am unable to open certain links on safari for example eBay and start the apple support Etc. Yet I can open and navigate round Amazon. I am also unable to click links within emails that I know are safe. I have tried all 4 search engines with still the same problem. Currently having to use the google chrome app and then I have to hold down to get the open in a new tab. is there anyway I can fix this problem,as I have tried everything. only got my pad at Christmas and just started using it this weekend when my old iPad 3 wouldn't do the back up.

The current workaround that I have seen - and this is not a fix - is to disable JavaScript which also disables some needed functionlIty on certain websites.

    Settings>Safari>Advanced>JavaScript>Off.

I have these Link-Problems with my Ipad Air since yesterday - quite some days after updating to iOS9.3.

Mail or Safari crash when trying to open a link.

My Iphone 5s works fine though (also updated to 9.3.)

BTW: enabling Java did not help!

Hope Apple is fixing it asap.

I had the exact same issue on my ipad,  then updated to ios 9.3 hoping that would fix it which turns out causes even more issues than the previous version and did not fix anything. Why can't Apple test these updates before releasing them to millions of users who are now getting increasingly frustrated?!

Anyhow hope the fix comes soon as my ipad becomes rather useless...

I am hoping Apple will release a new version of 9.3 that works with iPad Air. Like others, Safari links do not work and email freezes. 9.3 works fine on iPhone 6s. Some of the suggestions seem draconian. I am out of town away from Mac with iTunes installed. Should never have installed 9.3 on iPad. It was working fine before this "upgrade."

I have an iPad 2 still running on 9.2.1 (13D15).

On late Saturday 3/26 it stopped allowing me to open links in Safari or from an email. Bookmarks and other internet access are just fine.

At the time I thought the software upgrade might fix the problem. But when I tried to install I got-

"Unable to Verify Update  IOS9.3 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet"

But I was connected to the internet.

I have an Iphone6. It was working fine at that time. Then I made the mistake of installing 9.3 (13E233) on it. Now it has the exact same problem with links the iPad2 has.

When I check for updates on the phone or on iTunes it says my phone's software is up to date. No new version shows up as available.

I had the Booking.com app on both devices, which has now been removed for over 24 hours, both devices have been completely shut down and turned back on several times, tried switching search engine to Bing, and I tried turning javascript off.  No change- still cannot open links from Safari or from email.

Closest Apple Store is a plane ride away, unless I decide to swim or take a boat. (yes I live on an island)

I need these devices to work properly so I can run my business. Any other ideas beside wait for Apple to release a fix?
