Q: ipad mini 1 ios 9.3 activation problem

Hi,

I just updated my ipad mini 1 to 9.3 but it is stuck.

stating to activate the ipad again using my icloud ID. also indicating to which icloud account it currently is connected: i******@z*****.nl

entering this ID and the correct password is failes stating

Apple ID incorrect

"<username>" cannot be used to unlock this ipad.

strangly, using this appleID logging in directly on icloud.com it is working. AND on my iphone this ID is also still working.

HELP; I read al lot of suggestions almost simular suggesting the use of iTunes. BUT first question @ iTunes is to enter the apple ID for the just connected ipad (@#@$)

so i'm hard stuck.

anyone any suggestions ?

kind regards

Apple published this article with some tips, which may or may not help given what you've tried

If they don’t work and you can’t get to an Apple store you may just be stuck waiting for the situation to resolve itself.

There is a known issue/glitch with Apple's activation servers.

Apple, I believe, has acknowledged and recognized this issue with activation server difficulties with certain iPad models and have stated that they are working on this issue and that it will be resolved as soon as possible.

    Hopefully sooner.

It is affecting mostly iPad 2 models, but users with iPad 3,4 and 1st gen iPad Mini models are, also, reporting the same issue.

Currently there are limited workarounds to circumvent this issue and those workarounds have not worked for every iDevice having the Activation Server issue.

This is clearly an Apple related issue/problem.

    hi MichelPM,

hmm. Now a bigger issue will be "convincing/explaining" my wife to NOT be able to use the ipad mini ..... poor me

little note: I now have read at several places about the activation server issue. Except they all state a different error message..

    Mine is actually and excactly

    Apple ID incorrect

"<username>" cannot be used to unlock this ipad.

as you can see nothing is stated wrt a "server".

So it kind of seems to be a different problem.

but I Guess you are right. I don't see another option than waiting and hoping on an wonder (update ... )

Sounds kind of religious ... ..

    regards.

I'm afraid not. What's in that article is the suggestions that have been made. I'm afraid you may be down to waiting for it to fix itself. If you have an apple store nearby you could always make an appointment and see if a genius can help you

    seems that you are right.

now several times tried to repair through use of Itunes.

Itunes stated it will re-install 9.3 as it repeatibly does. no luck.

Each time stuck at use of Apple ID activation - not succeeding.

(although apple ID is working on icloud.com )

I not giving up by trying the option factory reset ....

but kind of getting out of options I guess.

    suggestions ?

Apple, to date, is still struggiling to fix this issue.

According to Apple, there is another "new fix/solution" coming down the pipeline some time soon.

Many older iPads have still not been recoverable from this with Apple's last update.

    Found here.

that is the exact procedure that I'm trying to execute yesterday and today.

I see it is updated on 28th.

so I need to be patient.

    awaiting any news from Apple

To be hounest: I hope future electric Car manufactures (Tesla, Google Apple ...) will recognise the gigantic responcibility they will have on human lives...

picture such an update on a situation where the combination of Throuthle, steering and braking fail under circumstances -- after updates - overnight.

    scary.
