I left my iPhone 5 charging all night and on Wi-Fi to see what happened. As of 10 am CDT no update shows up on my phone even though it is on 13E233. Hard to fathom why your 5S wants an update and my 5 does not. Like you, I will do nothing. My two iPad Airs also on 13E233 want an update also, presumably to 237 but no way to tell. I don't understand the lack of consistency among devices. Who knows, by tomorrow we may have 239.

 

 

 

 

Update:

Solved part of the mystery. Even though I have 5.6 GBs open and 13E237 appears to take 1.4 GBs, my iPhone says "up to date" as I mentioned above. However, I just connected it to iTunes and sure enough, a new update shows up as available. The iPads want to update OTA but somehow my iPhone wants to update with iTunes only even though 5.6 GBs would be more than enough. As I have mentioned, I am not updating anything until the next build comes out "fixing" the links issue. Note the quotes on fixing, not Apple's finest hour!

I am extremely curious.  Did any apps "automatically" update or did you "manually" update any apps and which ones?  thanks

I Contacted Apple Support on Twitter @AppleSupport as a DM (direct message) and had an answer in less than 2 hours.  I sent a printscreen of the new 9.3 build and they replied it was a new version/build and to install over the previous, it might fix any issues If I had experienced any (I have an Ipad Air with the first IOS 9.3 installed and no issues that I have found).

I Have also seen there would be a new update in a few days to fix the hyperlink problem of which they are aware.  They did not state that in that reply to me--of which I got both a DM in Twitter and an email to answer.  I expect you can reach them on Facebook too (I don't do FB).  I have read that if you have booking.com installed its one of the major culprits in the hyperlink issue though there are others--it appears because some of the developers abused a new thing in coding (to put it simply).

I Don't think anyone had an automatic install but we did have automatic downloads (ready to install) of the second build of IOS 9.3.

I have iOS 9.3 Build 13E237 and it still does not fix the Mail freezing issue nor the Safari links issue.

i never did the new 9.3 as I was aware there were problems. All the problems I am having are with the 9.2.1 version which seems strange as I've not done the new update. I was previously using my iPad 3 before the weekend when the same problem appeared on that one, again 9.2.1 was only installed. I tried to do a back up before doing a reset as I wanted to start using my iPad Air more. iPad 3 wouldn't do the back up, said it had failed. As I had most apps etc already on the new iPad 2 air, I just went to using that one and deleted the iPad 3 from the iCloud. I did do some updates for apps over the weekend but the problem was already there, despite not using the iPad Air 2 since I got it at Christmas.

i did have booking.com and now have removed it, restarted and I still have the same problems, I will not do the update for 9.3 until I know for sure it will fix it.

From what I've read on tech blogs, etc, the hyperlink, mail freeze, etc has to do with the problem with 3rd party developers who abused a new option for them.  i did read that Apple felt they needed to have some training for developers in the use of certain options.  I'm paraphrasing of course and at that just repeating what some of the more knowledgable bloggers seem to suspect or maybe even know. 

I will mention this is why I don't do auto updates for apps on my Ipad since I use it extensively every day and want as few issues as possible.  BY manually loading app updates (after reading about what they contain) its easy enough, if I have some issues, to go back and either delete those apps or contact the developers.  Not to let Apple off the hook but I've been using computers and software since the early 80s and don't remember any not having a few bugs at first install.  Betas help a great deal, esp. Public betas, but issues often arise from a combination of installed software and its difficult to cover all the possible permutations of the millions of IOS devices.   BTW. I have been a Window person most of those years until the first Ipad and this Fall bought my first Macbook Pro and am totally Apple now so/but I know bugs LOL.

It looks like this issue is related to Universal Links. With iOS 9, Apple introduced Universal Links, a brand new way to handle links with native apps. App developers, such as YouTube, can register domain names to open web links directly into an app, bypassing Safari.

Well I hope they come up with something quick or I am going to run out and buy a Surface as I am dead in the water right now not being able to look at quotes and respond to inquiries
