Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

Same issue here on 6S+, basically no links seem to work in mail, imessage, safari, Safari, Mathon etc. I love your devices apple, but you have to ramp up QA, this is a nogo and not acceptable for a premium manufacturer! Please reconsider your approach and deploy a fix immediately

ok guys looking at the thread the only thing Apple is suggesting is a rest of the factory settings which of course is an unacceptabke answer. someone suggested the Booking.com App creates the problem. i deleted the App restarted the phone and had the same problem so that is no solution. I am not a techy but I think the problem originates from an App conflict as my wife has exactly the same phone (6/64) with s lot feeer Apps installed and no issue.

To make Safari work again go to settings and disable Java in the advanced safari settings. This of course is a temporary solution as you will not be able to login towebsires including this one. I am using Puffin to write this post. This will not solve the problem with Mail however which will continue to freeze.

Now let's speak of Apple. I bought my first mac in 1987 and continued to buy Macs even when Steve was kicked out and they were selling crappy products with a lousy operating system. With what Apple is charging for its products today these kind of os bugs are unacceptable and the lack of an official statement is not only unacceptable but an insult to its customers new or old they may be. I hope at keast they will have the decency to deliver an ios upgrade by April 2 which is the date given by Apple support to someone in this Forum.

Using a iPad3, 16 gig: same problem since I upgraded to 9.3 a few days ago. Can't follow links in Applenews, Notes, mail or in Safari . Chrome seems to be working at the moment. As all have said before: VERY FRUSTRATING as there's no way to roll back to earlier iOS...

    I dowloaded iOs 9.2.1 through

Installed this .ipsw file in iTunes

Hold the Alt key (on Mac OS X) / the Shift key (on Windows) and hit “restore” in iTunes

iOs Restore went ok but all data is gone from the iPhone

Restore from backup does not work because the latest backup was with iOs 9.3

On my iMac I restored the MobileSync backup folder (1 day before upgraging to 9.3) via Time Machine (~\library\Application Support\MobileSync\Backup\)

    Long live Time Machine!!!

Now I could restore my iPhone from backup

    Everything works fine again

    Waiting for the upgrade

Try and download a third party browser, like Puffin, it will help until the next update, when Apple addresses this issue.

Yes, I did the same this morning and put back a reserve copy of a couple of days ago and had no problems all day.

So that gives Apple time to get to the root of this problem and solve it neatly.

It isn't so unacceptable. In fact it made my phone work normal again after I put back a 3 days old  reserve copy of the phone.

Perhaps a bit annoying but an easy solution.
