Q: Macbook battery lasts about half the time when using Firefox. What's wrong?
Hi,
I have a macbook pro 13" late-2011, and I recently changed my memory and hard-drive because my computer was way too slow. I upgraded the memory to 16GB and for the hard-drive, I switched to samsung 850 evo. (Was gonna upgrade to 8GB but accidentally ordered 16GB and decided to keep it) I also upgraded to OS X El Capitan after switching those parts.
Everything works perfectly fine after these upgrades, but the only problem I have is that my battery runs out much quicker than before. It runs out quicker especially when I use Firefox. The battery goes from 100% to 20% in about two hours when running just Firefox, a couple text-editing apps and Messaging. I checked the Activity Monitor, and it said that the average energy impact of Firefox was something like 110 which was say higher than the other apps. I don't think I had this problem with Firefox before the upgrade, so I wasn't sure it was Firefox actually consuming so much energy or something wrong with my computer. Could it be that my computer can't handle some of the upgrades I made? Did anyone experience this problem after they upgraded their macbook's memory/hard-drive/os?
*When I check the battery info, it says it's health condition is normal so I don't think it's a battery problem.
Thanks for the help!
