Mar 29, 2016 8:28 PM in response to morrispeby babowa,★HelpfulI'm not entirely sure, but I believe that you need to ask a question after you've established that the Apple Music is one of your specialties - in other words, you must have done one of the other two things first? I'm sure that if you post another question, it would satisfy the requirement.

Mar 30, 2016 1:11 AM in response to morrispeby Yellowbox,Hi morrispe,
The way that I see the purpose of the Speciality badges is to give us some practice in how new users see these forums (walk a mile in another's shoes), and to add to our reputation in a forum. Specialty badges are separate from your Level 4 (Points level tells nothing about which forums in which we gained those points). As you gain levels in a Specialty badge, more blue "pips" below the badge will show that you are progressing from "interested" to "Expert" in that forum.
Now I have to think of another question
Perhaps you could start the question with some advice to new users (a bit like a User Tip) and then ask your question. Beware of posting a question for the sake of posting a question! That could be seen as gaming the system .
Congratulations on being All Time 3rd in Apple Music for Mac.
Regards,
Ian.

I think the new perks and specialties system is mostly positive and I was looking to fill up some of those blue bars for the community forums I'm most interested in. There is almost a gamification aspect to it and completing the tasks for each specialty level is like being given a quest. Overall the specialty tasks should promote more user engagement in the communities.
It does seem odd that those who have already reached higher levels based on points are still required to ask a question to unlock the first few bars when most of us spend much more time answering questions or offering possible solutions rather than asking our own questions. I agree with your comments about not posting for the sake of it but the new system does seem to encourage that very behaviour. Given that I guess we need to be more creative when attempting to obtain specialty rankings.

Mar 30, 2016 6:47 PM in response to morrispeby turingtest2,If I'm not mistaken you may have asked your question within a few hours of the new design going live. It is just possible that the activity wasn't captured by the gamification engine. I suspect you'll need to post some useful information or another question to move forwards.

That is one of the reasons why I am ignoring it completely. I don't do gamification as it really does nothing to enhance a tech forum.
