Q: Magic Trackpad 2 not providing haptic feedback

My Magic Trackpad 2 has suddenly stopped providing haptic feed back whenI click it. I am on a iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015) running El Capitan 10.11.4.

I've tried unpairing and then repairing it. Not sure of its a hardware issue or a software problem.

If you go into System Preferences… -> Trackpad, did the "Force Click and haptic feedback" box somehow become unchecked?

no, it is currently checked. I have unchecked and then re-checked it and still no haptic feedback.

Then it may be a bad trackpad (it happens); the failure could be completely coincidental with your upgrade to El Capitan.

Can you test it on another Mac? If not, it might be easiest to just exchange it at your retailer or an Apple Store.
