Q: how can I play an AVI file if the codec is not supported?

How do `i get to watch a video in AVI format if the codec is not supported I have tried installing VLC player but it doesn't work

    You posted your question on a forum for questions about software running on computers at least 15 years old or older.  You will get a speedier response if you post in the correct forum and also say which operating system version you are using on which platform.

     

    If VLC won't play it then you do not stand much chance of playing it. You would have to get a media information tool which could tell you what codec the avi contains, then see if there is software which c an play it. Without even knowing what device or computer you are trying to play this on we are really left wildly guessing.
