Mar 29, 2016 10:46 AM in response to MasterofAppleby dickfromoh,This won't make my whole library download will it? I just want the "Recently Added" cd's. They were added up until this last updates on iTunes and iPhone.

Mar 29, 2016 1:42 PM in response to dickfromohby javaliga,If you have "Sync All Music" selected, it certainly will sync your whole library to your phone. Use "Sync Only Selected Songs" instead (or something like that - its right next to that option in iTunes). Make sure you check All of the songs you want on your iPhone - unchecked ones will be removed (but will remain in iTunes so you can sync them later).
Before you do that, are you sure that the CDs aren't just showing up in a place you might not expect - like unknown. Or is the CD part of a compilation? iTunes might split that up into individual artists. See this for some general pointers about compilations, artists, album artist, and various other tags & sorting issues:

Mar 30, 2016 9:07 AM in response to javaligaby dickfromoh,The basis of my query is contained in the Music App on the iPhone. A few weeks ago I ripped several CD's into my iTunes database on my computer. Those CD's showed up on my Music App as "Recently Added" along with other selections I bought from the iTunes store. I've since updated both my iTunes and iPhone software. CD's I've ripped since then don't show up on the "RA" list, but purchases do. I never Sync'd to get the CD's on the list, they just showed up. My question was one of "Why then?". Thanks for your input.

Mar 30, 2016 9:13 AM in response to dickfromohby turingtest2,Purchases you make in your iTunes library will show up in your device unless you have an option selected to show only downloaded music. The purchases will show as cloud links that can be used to stream or download to the device. They will also show up in any smart playlist if they meet the criteria for it. To get all of your recently added content on the device sync with iTunes and make sure that your selection of playlists that you sync with includes recently added or will include them via some other smart list.

If I recall correctly, the default time for the Recently Added Playlist is just two weeks. (tt2 will confirm or correct... Thanks Steve , I can't find your tip and I've changed my default time! ) Therefore, any songs added more than two weeks ago will drop out of the Recently Added Playlist. If you want them to be in the list for a longer period, change the default time (rule) for the Smart Playlist.
