Q: Safari won't open any links and then freezes/crashes

HELP! The Safari on my fairly new iphone 6s has gone haywire.  Safari opens fine, and if you type in a direct URL, it will go to the website just fine.  However, if i attempt to search any subject it will pull up the pages of websites, but will not allow me to connect to any of the links and when I select a link it then freezes and crashes safari.   Additionally, if i try to open any weblink imbedded in an email, it again freezes and crashes both mail AND Safari. SO FUN!

And just to test general connectivity and function, i downloaded Google Chrome to see if I can search and connect there, and I can. The search works fine, pulls up the pages, and strangely, I can't access the pages direct, but it will allow me to open the page in another tab.  I feel like this should be a clue for someone smarter than I.

I have been tinkering for about an hour with it and I am at a loss.

Things I have tried:

1. Resetting the phone - both just by powering off and a hard reset (Power + Home)

2. Turning off Safari Suggestions (and browser suggestions) - this was a fix that I found for a bug that seemed similar from earlier this year.

3. Changing the search engine from Google to Yahoo and back, nothing.

4. Private Browsing (again a "fix" I found on the interwebs...)

5. Downloading and upgrading my iOS to 9.3. Still nothing.

6. Banging my head on my computer and cursing very loudly at the phone.

PLEASE, if you have any suggestions, i am all ears... I am going bananas and can't let it go.

THANK YOU!!!

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3, Prob started while on 9.2.1

I'm having the same issues on iPhone 6 with iOS 9.3.

Links do not work on Mail, Safari, Chrome, and several third-party apps.

This is an extremely serious bug and Apple should work on it 24:7, instead of telling us to "wait"...

I think the problem is wider than just links in emails or browser. I see an annoying screen flicker from time to time that goes across the status line around the wifi symbol and carrier, also the phones pauses or freezes for short periods of time, like when it's going to fall out of an app back to the main screen, but does usually recover. This is happening on a couple of different model phones.

This has been an issue since at least 21st March and still not fixed.

It is not just an issue with IOS 9.3 as many people have the same problems and they haven't updated to 9.3. I am still on IOS 9.2.1 and it just stopped working last Friday 25th March. Apple are sure as **** taking their time to do anything about it though, so I am changing to Samsung asap as I need my phone for work and to go this long without being able to open links in Safari or in emails is absolutely ridiculous!

I did wonder if it was anything linked to a Time Zone setting... as I upgraded my iPhone 5S on Wednesday 24th March and only noticed I had problems on Sunday 27th, the day after the Daylight Time Savings although I was away at the time and didn't have much need to click any Mail hyperlinks.

When is a Smartphone not a Smartphone?

When it's an iPhone or iPad

There are 288 replies to the original question and I cannot see any response from Apple. There are many suggestions on how to fix the problem, i.e. turnoff javascript in safari. Issue is most websites (including this one) become unusable as javascript is so heavily used to add functionality.

Sadly I thought the fix had been released yesterday when I was offered the 9.3 upgrade. Sadly that proved to not be the fix I expected.

Come on Apple, release a fix as this is affecting too many people. It is impacting my business as I can only reliably respond to customers at home when I have access to my desktop - i ditched my mobile as the iPad met all my requirements - that was a mistake They do not understand when I say "i'll respond when i get home as my iPhone/iPad is f****d.

Look at the bright side, at least you are safe from malicious links. Thanks to this Apple special bug you do not need an anti-virus.

    "So many days..."

...and so many desperate suggestions of DIY solutions of this basic and irritating problem from

so many helpless customers with bought expensive tickets on this famous and safe cruise ship having falled in the rough sea trying to save themselves and each other from drowning while their captain is trying to comfort them with a message that they are working on a fix of the problem...

...though they have beta tested the security of the ship with several lifeboats, it seems that they somehow have missed a fundamental aspect.

Is Titanic after all as secure as told...

I hope not this issue will injure Apple to much because I love Apple and after all there is no other ship like her...

AS temporary workaround I use the Google app for browsing and the Gmail app for my email.

The oriblem is in my iPad 4 and started before the IOS 9.3 update. Our iphones 6s both work fine with the update.

One of them had booking.com installed which I deletrd as a precaution after the update. Another iPad 4 works fine with the update.

    Try to understand!

When I go into "Settings/General/Software update" I get the msg "Software does not need update" - well, that's strange, cause it NEEDS update since it's not working as it should, actually FAR from it.
