Q: shuffle ejects after slight movement on connecting cord

My new 4th gen shuffle ejects from my computer if it even slightly rotates on the connecting cord--is this normal?? Just trying to figure out if I need to return it or not.

iPod shuffle, iOS 9.3

Not normal... You may not have the plug on the docking cable fully inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack. It should "snap" into place. See this document

I tried the shuffle on my husband's cord and it no longer had the issue. I took it back to target today and got a new one and, low and behold, that one also had the issue. I think it must be a bad batch or something.

A "bad batch" of docking cables? That would be annoying...

If this shuffle also works fine with your husband's docking cable, and there's an Apple Store nearby, maybe the Genius Bar will swap out just the cable. You can make a reservation at Genius Bar using the store's web page
