Q: iOS 9.3 iPhone 5s apple id sign in freezing
After upgrading to 9.3, my iPhone 5s turned from being a smart phone, to being a stupid one. I'll explain. Calls work, SMS work, FB messenger works and that's about it, all other apps fail to use the connection (wifi or data) and just stall. Safari won't open up a single site either.
I am not having an activation issue as was the case with many people!
When I restart my iPhone I get two notifications: 1. Sim Locked and 2. Apple ID Verification - Enter the password for "myemail" in Settings. I unlock my SIM, all is fine, I got to Settings and I'm prompted to enter my Apple ID Password. I KNOW my password, I use it regularly and I even used it to log in to icloud.com or to this discussion board. I enter my password, hit Sign in and I get "verification failed - there was an error connecting to the apple id server".
All the suggestions are to fix activation issue, not verification.
Can anyone help?
iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3

If you are unable to restore there are only two steps left. Recovery Mode and DFU Mode. You could also take your phone to an Apple Store for evaluation.
Here is recovery mode but the Find my iPhone verification may impact you again.
Turn off your iPhone.
Connect the phone charging cable to the computer only (not to the iPhone yet).
Open iTunes on your computer.
Press and hold the power button on your phone and don’t let go.
Connect the cable to the phone while keeping the power button pressed down.
Wait until the computer detects the phone and wait for it to restore.
Restore as New first and then restore from backup(s) if desired.

DFU mode, a last resort step. The Appe Store may be a better choice.
