Do you mean "clicking the mouse button" rather than "pointing curser"?

What are you clicking ON? Safari browser control buttons? Links on the page? If links, what website? All websites?

What brand & model of mouse? Wired or wireless? If wireless, have you changed the battery?

I am not getting a response when clicking with mouse on the safari browser. This includes links or anything on the page when it freezes.

I am using a wireless mouse which shows 93 % charged. I have tried restarting computer, disk firstaid under utilities.I am using

el captan 10.11.4. When googling on search for answers it shows a lot of people having same problem.

    Thanks,

OK. I am hearing you say Safari ONLY?

    Standard troubleshooting it is then.

    1. Restart in Safe Mode > OS X El Capitan: Start up in safe mode
    2. test under your normal workflow = Joy / no joy?
    3. Either way, restart normally
    4. test again
    5. If NO joy, try a different browser = Firefox is my favorite, but Chrome or some other will do (trying to prove it is Safari only)

    report results, please

I have the same problem and my only fix is to restart the computer   Maybe someone knows a fix.

To clarify the problem above:  the mouse hovers over everything when moved around, but when you click a page, link, tab, or even to "shut down" the clicks are unresponsive.  The only way to shut down is to hit the button on the back of the iMac.
