Q: IOS 9.3.1 is out...

I just updated my iPad Air 2 and everything went fine. I am updating my iPhone 5s now. This is to fix the Safari link bug.

How did you get update?  Were you notified in settings?

If already on 9.3, the delta is small. If doing it via iTunes, full installer is the only thing it uses and they are HUGE. 2.09GB for an i6+, haven't checked the iPad, suspect it will be ~1.5GB like with 9.3. Patience is a virtue...

Settings app > General > Software Update. If it isn't showing up yet, try again later.

When I update to the last build of iOS 9.3, the file was 1.4GB on my iPad. The last build being the one that wa supposed to fix everything but the Safari links issue. I downloaded and installed it OTA in less than 15 minutes. I still can't believe it was that fats for a download that size.

The file for iOS 9.3.1 was less than 30 MB and did not take any less time to download and install OTA than the Q.4 GB file. Weird.

Am new here, I have an iphone 6.

I've also been having problems with links/hyperlinks not opening in safari/email etc and phone freezing when email hyperlinks are tapped. The problem started when I was still on IOS 9.2.1 so I downloaded IOS 9.3 hoping that it would solve the problem. No such luck and obviously, no surprise to anyone here.

So I was hanging for IOS 9.3.1 and downloaded it today. At first I thought the problem was completely solved - but my relief was short-lived. I have a safari link to google.com.au on my home screen. I prefer to use this for search rather than the google app. But when I enter a search string into the google search box, I get search suggestions (all good), I pick what I'm looking for and then NOTHING, no response, nada. The screen doesn't freeze, it just won't navigate to whatever I'm searching for. Everything else on my phone seems to be working correctly except this.

Does anyone have the same problem? And does anyone have any ideas as to how to solve?

Try a forced restart: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the restart.

No luck. I enter something into the search box, press search and nothing happens. I also tried deleting the icon from my home screen and re-adding it. Again, no luck. (This problem is driving me nuts)

Short of a full restore (https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht204184) I'm not sure what else to recommend. I can't replicate this on any of my devices.

I'm trying to a avoid a full restore but may end up having to bite the bullet. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Someone else suggested I reset all settings. I did that and it worked - phew!

You could try clearing Safari, and delete the shortcut. Launch Safari again and set up your shorcut on the home screen again. Settings>Safari>Advanced>Website Data>Remove all website data - or load all sites and swipe to find the cookies for that site and delete them only if you don't want to delete all cookies. You might want to close all apps and then do the forced restart again as well.

This is slightly better than a full restore, if you want to give it a shot, but you will have to enter all device settings again. Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. The device will reboot on its own and it will revert to default, all out of the box settings.

Definitely worth a shot before resorting to a restore.

Thanks for this. I'd already tried deleting the link/icon and re-adding it to my home screen - didn't work. But I've now reset all settings and that did the trick! (why didn't *I* think of that [rhetorical question]) :-)
