Q: macbook pro keeps freezing

My macbook pro (early 2015) was working great until a week ago. It started freezing up and is now doing it very frequently. Im not getting a beachball either, the mouse pointer remains the same. Im having to manually restart it every time by holding down the power button . This problems only started after i updated to the version 10.11.4 of OS X EL capitan. I have 80 GB of free space so dont think thats an issue.

Any solutions?

Thanks

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), null

I got this problem too, like many other people (there is multiple posts and threads already). Seems to occur mostly with 2015 Macs.

There is nothing to do. I already tried an El Capitan clean install with complete SSD eraze and 10.11.4 combo update, it didn't help; my macbook pro 13 2015 keeps freezing with Safari.

It's related to Safari or a framework/driver linked to the browser.

Apple has to fix it. Just use Firefox or Chrome.

Have you tried re-installing El Capitan? I am also operating the 2015 13" Macbook Pro and am having no issues so I don't think it is on Apple's side unless your having issues with software no being installed properly by the machine or a slight hardware malfunction which you can check with a diagnostics.

Apparantly re-installing El Capitan doesnt work. This seems to be widespread problem. Surprised apple hasnt come up with a solution.

I have been having the same problem for the last two weeks. I have never had any issue before that. I have a Macbook Air 13 (Early 2014 model). The only things I can do is restart the machine.

Ok I had the same problem, constant freezing etc.. I would often have to do a manual shut down. I upgraded to El Capitan and it still happened. After searching every where it seems no one had an answer and people would often just post up useless jargon with out an actual solution.

    Here is what I did:

I removed all apps I don't really use

I had a couple of apps that would run in the background, the ones that stay in the top tool bar. I removed these.

No freezes or crashes since and my Mac book pro seems to be running a little faster. Took me 5 mins to do. Give it a try.

    Hi,

I have been having this same issue for well over a month ever since I upgraded my 2011 17" MacBookPro to El Capitan.  I was getting random freeze ups which could only be solved by forcing a shutdown and restarting. Often, I'd have to restart multiple times to get the system back up.  I've never had any issues with my Mac and ran countless diagnostics trying to isolate the issue - nothing.  I finally found a forum that mentioned El Capitan being the possible issue so I just downgraded to Yosemite last night and have not had the issue since.

To be clear, the only resolution to this issue is to downgrade to Yosemite. Reinstalling El Capitan (short of a fix from Apple) is NOT going to resolve your issue.  Until last night, I haven't been able to do a clean start/restart since shortly after installing El Capitan.  The first restart after I deleted the drive El Capitan was running on was clean and all since have been clean. I've had no lockups or freezes either.

Apple needs to stop dancing around this issue and fix it.  For the first time in 6 years, I am actually contemplating going back to a PC between issues with Apple Operating systems and the absence of a 17" machine in their lineup.  I was so relieved to find that the issue was just the new OS and not my hardware since I REALLY do not want to go down to a 15" system.
