On your MacBook make a playlist of all the songs you want to download to your iPhone - either your entire library or whatever you wish to have there.

Then go to the iPhone (assuming that both the MacBook and iPhone are both signed in with the same Apple ID and both have iCloud Music Library turned ON). The playlist should sync to your iPhone. Hit the three dots to the right of the playlist title and tap "Make Available Offline" and make sure your iPhone is on a decent Wifi network. Then wait.

This SHOULD work but it does not. the music app seems to get confused if more than about 10 songs are being downloaded, it seems to have a terrible download management profile.  Also, out of say 20 songs, at least 3 will come up with 'Could not download at this time, try later' retry does nothing to fix this.

If you cancel all downloads (which is an option unhelpfully at the very bottom of the download page,if you have many files, scrolling crashes the app) magically, it starts downloading again, after a while it creates some bizarre internal profile of files that must be downloaded, you cannot see that profile or stop it, you just randomly get 'downloading files' despite having hit cancel all downloads and the number of files left for download (if you select, say, a to make a playlist offline) will vary randomly as well.4 weeks into my new Ipod Touch and I still have only half my collection on the ipod (I walk on the wild for landscape photography, not wifi or 3g) despite haviin a 100mb fiber connection at home.

    Swandy,

You seem to know what you're talking about...can you help me?

I have two different Apple ID's on my iPhone, with a bunch of songs in MyMusic under each separate ID.  Is there a way for me to consolidate all of my music under one of my ID's?
