Apr 2, 2016 11:08 PM in response to Grimsyby MatisyahuGardiner,Maybe it is related to the security fix that they did for the Intel GPU driver? I'm hoping that they get this fixed up quickly or at least Apple acknowledging the problem rather than the denial mode they seem to be in at present.

Apr 2, 2016 11:41 PM in response to MatisyahuGardinerby Lexiepex,I have the Intel GPU and no problems, in several macs.
The STP browser has changes in the webkit inside, maybe that helps.
If not, find the framework files with Pacifist, extract them from Yosemite Installer, and then extract them from ElCap, and compare them.

Apr 2, 2016 11:48 PM in response to Lexiepexby MatisyahuGardiner,And you've repeated the same post over and over again. It does not change the fact that those of us who are experiencing freezing are primarily using devices which have Intel based GPU's so it has to have an origin somewhere in the Intel driver itself which is impacting particular models. I have also addressed the issue regarding the Safari developer preview in that the same problem appears which again makes me wonder whether it is entirely unrelated to Webkit but something to do with the Video Toolkit hardware accelerated decoding that Flash taps into given that the flaw occurs both on Chrome and on Safari with the common denominator being Flash.

Apr 2, 2016 11:52 PM in response to MatisyahuGardinerby TJ-Alex,This update is stressing me out. I regret updating my new imac. I wish I could go back to version 10.11.13 but I dont know how? I already tried os x recovery and internet recovery, It always installs 10.11.4. I did not use time machine I dont want to lose my data. I have been reading online that people have been experiencing the same problem since March 23. Apple sure is taking their sweet time to fix this mess. Others says its a hardware problem and others say its a software issue. Apple sure likes the confusion with the unhappy costumers.

Apr 3, 2016 12:06 AM in response to TJ-Alexby lost_james,Using Safari with NO FLASH installed is giving this problem randomly, but with one common thing: it always happens while playing videos on the web. So I guess it has something to do with playing HTML5 Video.

You can if you have a TimeMachine backup. Don't install a fresh ElCap, install from TimeMacine backup, date before the ElCap Update.

Apr 3, 2016 2:51 AM in response to Lexiepexby lasek,Same here on early 2015 MacBook Pro. Safari on video content causes random freezes. I think, that a lot of users use another browser than safari.

Apr 3, 2016 2:53 AM in response to lasekby lasek,It seems like video graphics driver issue. I hope, that Apple will take care of it. I remember Intel 3100 graphics issue when Apple did nothing with in Snow Leopard and later versions.

Apr 3, 2016 3:22 AM in response to lasekby Grimsy,Their own browser is unusable and totally broken righ now since 10.11.4, so they'll have no other choice than fixing it quickly.
They can't deny and ignore it, or argue like they often do : you're not using it the right way.

Apr 5, 2016 4:55 AM in response to Grimsyby Foxdie8,Same problem here.
The more we call and send feedback the quicker they'll repair this bug.
I am surprised and disappointed to see how apple is blind at this. I spent hours on twitter chatting with apple support and on the phone speaking to so-called "senior advisor" : nothing.

Apr 5, 2016 5:01 AM in response to Foxdie8by Jonathan Milenko,I've been in touch with Apple. They've shown a genuine interest in getting to the bottom of this.

Apr 7, 2016 9:40 AM in response to Jonathan Milenkoby Prouddad6,I am having the same issue. I am using a iMac 21.5 inch, mid 2010, with the OS X El Capitan Operating System (10.11.4) and Safari 9.1 (11601.5.167.1) I experience multiple screen freeze-ups daily when on Safari. The cursor will move, but clicking the mouse does nothing. Keyboard prompts also do not work. The Track Pad will also move the cursor, but again, clicking does nothing. The screen simply is locked. I have to force shut down by holding the on/off button and then restart. I find this to be extremely frustrating. So glad to know it's not just me!

Apr 9, 2016 7:03 AM in response to Prouddad6by Charles Bouldin,As I posted earlier in this thread (twice), I have the same freezing issue. 13" MBP that was perfectly stable with 10.11.3 now crashing every 24-48 hours while using Safari. It seems to be linked to video, often on youtube, or pictures, usually on Facebook. Things that do NOT fix the issue are:
1. Using the combo updater for 10.11.4.
2. Using the Safari Technology Preview.
I'm trying a new approach now. I backed up my 10.11.4 partition, then used Carbon Copy Cloner to replicate the 10.11.4 partition, booted from that copy and updated to the beta 10.11.5.
We'll see.
I wish that Apple would make it easier to fall back to the previous version when issues like this arise. As best I can tell, that is simply impossible unless you kept a copy of the 10.11.0 install app.

Apr 9, 2016 7:32 AM in response to Charles Bouldinby Lexiepex, revert to earlier version of 10.11:
this will not work, but it can easily be done from a TM backup.
