Q: Connect Other Computer to new Macbook Pro as Monitor - PC Laptop or old iMac - How?
Hi all,
I am needing to connect my new Macbook Pro (15-inch retina) to a second monitor, however I don't have a second monitor. I do however have an old Dell laptop and an old iMac. Because I need it to be more portable, the laptop would be preferred. The only option I found for this combination however was ScreenRecycler, which would not work on the new Macbook. I tried to install the Driver, but each time it restarted (tried twice) it said I hadn't installed it yet. El Capitan is 10.11, whereas the website says ScreenRecycler goes up to 10.10. Figures.
So... is there any way to fix this problem so I could either a) Still use ScreenRecycler with the same computers or, b) use an alternative method of hooking up the same computers.
Now, the other option I have is an old iMac7,1. It is 10.6.8 and won't update further. Can I hook this up to my new Macbook? Will Target Display Mode work with these two (I'm assuming no since I believe my iMac is a 2007 and Target only started 2009?) Also, I am video editing, so will this connection slow down or affect my editing software or main computer in any serious manner?
Thanks!
