Q: Touch ID Not Working after iOS 9.3 Update

My TouchID is not working, post the iOS 9.3 update yesterday. Doesn't work to unlock the phone, nor apps that use it. I disabled/enabled it. Re-setup my fingerprints, and no luck.  Rebooting phone doesn't help either.

Did not backup phone prior to update.  And have not tried doing a backup and restoring yet.  Was hoping for a quicker/better solution (and also wanted to report this issue).

Any ideas?

I had also tried deleting all my fingerprints and redoing them and it didn't work either.  Interestingly enough, my right thumb works but no others.  I too found the update didn't correct the problem.  I didn't bother to try a full restore without using a backup because Apple support has had me do that before for problems that appear to be iOS issues and it never works.  And it's a pain to get my phone back to "normal".  I would have done it if others had reported a full restore worked.

    have the same issue.

my 5s was working fine for a few days after update to 9.3 but yesterday i noticed that sometimes touchID doesn't work. it doesn't even try to read the fingerprint.

tried to turn it off and on but got the same issue as described above - "Failed. Unable to complete Touch ID setup. Please go back and try again."

tried to reboot several times - no go.

tried to perform settings reset - touchID started working(i was able even to turn it off and on, delete old fingerprints and scan the new ones) but in few hours the issue returned back.

today in the morning installed 9.3.1 update - no go, still having the issue.

I'm having the exact same issue. I have done EVERYTHING. Removed and re-added fingerprints, tried different finger angles, seriously everything. Reset my phone, updated... everything. It still only works about 25% of the time. I'm confident there is a bug in the iOS and I don't like it. It is functionality like this that converted me from Android to iPhone to begin with.

After the iOS 9.3.1 update I have the same problem. I've tried all of the suggestions to fix the issue but nothing works. It won't work to open any of my apps with Touch ID passcode. I can't add another finger print or pay with Apple Pay. Need to fix urgently!!!!

By any chance, have you ever had the Touch ID button repaired/replaced?  I ask because in some other threads users have reported that they had them replaced by a third party and (with the upgrade) the iPhone crashes because the Touch ID & iPhone serial numbers don't agree.  Just a thought.

No, phone was never be repaired. Everything is original.

The issue is intermittent. Sometimes scanner works, but vast majority of time - doesn't.

btw, after one more restart touchID became turned off (by iOS, not by me) and i cannot get it back anymore... =(

hope devs will find a reason and fix it...it is really frustrating...

Same issue. Just upgraded original iphone 6 to iOS 9.3.1 and Touch Id is broken. Tried all solutions listed here. No go. I've never had an issue with Touch Id prior to this upgrade.
