Q: How do I get back to desktop from a web page

This is my first iMac so please be patient. I have iPods,iPads and a new IPhone, but the iMac is not as intuitive as I had thought. I will come back here with all my questions as you all will sure know more than me.

So, when I am on a web page in Safari, how do I get back to the Desktop quickly? Can I keep all my programme icons at the bottom of the screen and is there an icon for Desktop.

Looking forward to some advice.

command+m  minimizes the current window. If you only have a single window open you can see the desktop but it doesn't "return" you to it.

I don't think hot corners has anything to do with it.

Today i decided that I shot;d buy a full sized screen and I like it. I still have the commands to use but I also have a delete key which i am pleased about.

Thank you all for helping me. This is a very friendly forum.

Do you mean a full size keyboard?  I have a full size keyboard, my wife thought it a good idea when we bought the i-Mac. At first I hadn't thought about it at all but find now that I I really like it. Yes, there is a forward delete key and a reverse delete key and several functions not on the wireless keyboard. Numeric keypad comes in handy too.
