Q: Apple TV shows music on iPhone?

Hi everyone,

I just took a Apple Music subscription. I enjoyed the 3-months-free period since the release and decided to take a permanent subscription.

I turned off iCloud music library in the Music settings on my iPad and iPhone. I've heard a lot of nightmare stories where cover art is being up and tags become wrong. I also turned iCloud music library off in iTunes on my Windows PC.

However, when I go to the music app on my Apple TV and I go to "My Music", I see all the music that I've put on my iPhone.

How is that possible? Is there a option to turn it off?

I don't want Apple Music doing anything with my own music whether it is on my NAS or my iPhone.

Hopefully anyone can help me. Thanks in advance!

p.s. I'm having a lot of trouble playing Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour video. Keeps loading and loading. Anyone else experiencing this problem as well?

    Howdy JSD1985,

    It sounds like you need to turn off iCloud Music Library on your Apple TV. This page of the support site should help you do that:

    Music settings

    In Settings Settings, go to Apps > Music.

    Turn on iCloud Music Library. Turn on iCloud Music Library to access all your music from Apple Music, your iTunes purchases, and songs uploaded from your computer, along with your iTunes Match library. To learn more about iTunes Match, go to Subscribe to iTunes Match.

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities, take care!

    Hi @sterling r

    I already looked in those settings but I see no "iCloud Music Library" settings whatsoever. Here's a screenshot of the Music settings on my Apple TV.

    When I got the subscript, iCloud Music Library was turned on on my iPhone but I inmediatly turned it off. I think that some music has been synced.

    I will remove the music from my iPhone and turn iCloud Library on again. Hopefully it will sync the 'empty' music section to my Apple TV.

    Hi everyone,

    This issue has been solved!

    I did the following:

    • Make sure that iCloud music-library is disabled on your iPhone, iPad and PC;
    • Deleted all the music from my iTunes (only from iTunes, not from the fysical location,whether this is your local harddisk, a NAS etc.)
    • Turn on iCloud Music Library in iTunes on Windows. iTunes will sync the local library with the music in the cloud. Wait until this is finished.
    • Remove all the synced music from iTunes. The music will also be deleted in iCloud.
    • Turn off iCloud Library;
    • Import all of your music again into iTunes. This may take a while, depending on the size of your collection.

    After these steps all the music disappeared from 'My Music' on my Apple TV in the Music app.

    NOTE: In my case, some album-art was missing after I connected my iPhone to iTunes. I removed all the music from my iPhone and copied some new music to it. Everything is working fine now.
