Q: iPhone 6 plus Hand pain after use

Has anyone else experienced hand pain after using the iPhone 6 Plus?

My husband and I both got new phones this month and I had the 4S while he had the 5 prior to now having these monster 6 Pluses.  We both have experienced hand pain recently, we both think it's from the new phones.  My wrists ache sometimes and my fingers will sometimes go numb after using the phone.  I usually hold it with both hands and use my thumbs to text, if I'm playing a game I'll hold the phone with one hand and use the other to tap the screen. If I use my phone on my desk (not holding it, just having it in front of me, taping it with my fingers) I don't experience hand pain. I'm curious to see if anyone else out there has the same issues.

You don't read carefully.  I had an iPhone 5 when I upgraded to the 6. In fact I've owned every version of the iPhone since its inception. My household is full of Apple products. There have never been complaints of pain before that I'm aware of. Are you a doctor that you know hand pain from this device will show up and be severe in less than 14 days? It didn't. I think the SE definitely was released to offer users the improved technology in a form that doesn't cause pain. My attitude is my business. I've been an Apple fan since they existed, have admired their standards in both quality and innovation. Now they're getting careless and it does bother me. They don't want liability for this mistake, which leaves us to deal with our injuries the best we can. I think they're counting on the loyalty of Apple fans, which makes me feel betrayed. My business, not yours.

You say no one was forced to buy a larger phone???  You mean we were supposed to know in advance that the larger ones would cause pain, so it's our fault, not Apples???  Of COURSE Apple wants us to buy its top of the line products! They spend millions trying to persuade us to do just that.  However, no business is allowed to INJURE the public with its products.  To relieve the pain in my hand, I started balancing the 6S on the length of my thumb.  Tonight I had to stop that and put salve on the thumb because it feels like it's been in a frying pan where the iPhone was.  Apple should face up to this issue and recall the 6S.

It's absolutely ridiculous to suggest that Apple should recall the iPhone 6S because some people are too stubborn to accept that the 6S is not the right phone for them. If you buy the wrong size shoes and they hurt your feet, do you expect the shoe manufacturer to recall all of that size shoe? Seriously?

Apple didn't stop selling iPhone 5S until the release of the identically sized SE. iPhones hold there value very well. Even if it took you more than 14 days to determine the phone was the wrong size for you, you could easily have sold your iPhone 6S and purchased a more appropriate phone.

Please pay attention. I did not say you are not experiencing pain. I am saying that the supposed cause of the pain, radiation, emissions, whatever you want to call it, is wrong. Science has already shown this.

What's ridiculous is that this problem is being blamed on size, as if iPhones were shoes and it's up to the consumer to get the right fit!  Where is that in the advertising???  WHEN was the public informed that size was a factor in picking the right iPhone or there could be health consequences? NEVER, that's when.  Businesses are not allowed to sell products that, when used as instructed, cause injury. Any lawyer will tell you that. You Apple apologists here are talking nonsense.

You aren't making any sense, especially if you're trying to claim that "rays" of some kind or another are causing the problem. That notion has long since been debunked. So, that leaves size. And the size of the newer phone was definitely in the advertising.

Yes, business are allowed to sell products that may cause injury even when used correctly. Things that come readily to mind are cars, ladders and peanuts (peanut allergies can be deadly).

Go back and find where I said anything about rays. I'm responding to YOUR comments about size. I came on here to find out if others are having hand problems from using the 6S. They are, and now I've learned that, according to Apple apologists, it's OUR fault! Interesting.

    Bye

If you use a tool that is not appropriate for your needs, including the appropriately sized tool, yes, it is your fault. Do your research.

When you went to a doctor about the problem your hand has with the size of the iPhone 6 what was the diagnosis and did they directly attribute it to the use of the iPhone? Have you also checked to see if there are people reporting pain from using the Samsung Galaxy, Samsung Note, HTC One, LG, etc? All of these devices went to the larger form factor before Apple did. Are they to recall all of their phones also?

Nobody said it was your fault. If you purchased this phone and immediately had hand issues with it then the reasonable thing to do would be to go see a doctor and return the phone if it is determined that the form factor is causing your injury. This does not mean that the millions of other people who are using the phone without problems should have to give up their devices. I know quite a few people using the iPhone 6/6s with no issues whatsoever. I know one person who originally had the 6 Plus but they didn't like the size (didn't fit well in their shirt pocket) and switched to the 6. They have no problem using it.

    An update:

I tried to exchange my 6s for the cheaper SE and it turns out I'd actually have to fork out money--more if I did the trade at the Apple or AT&T stores, so I decided to sell it online and buy the SE outright. My 6s glass screen protector was chipped so I bought a plastic one like I'd always used before and, very strangely, the phone immediately became less painful to use.  It wasn't completely pain free, but the sharp, intense tingling pain was gone.  Now I'm wondering what the heck is in those glass screen protectors!? Probably kryptonite.

Totally serious. I'm using the 6s right now. Have the Tech Armor shield. The pain is gone. What's left is stiffness in my left hand which I assume comes from the larger size, but it's just an ache, not unbearable pain. If I were you, I'd get rid of that glass shield. I may still downsize to an SE if this ache keeps up.

I cracked my glass protector and just happened to Have a new one coming this week. i think I'll use my phone without one and see how it feels before I put the new one on. The new one is supposed to be glass, so I don't wanna open it if I'm going to have the same problem.

There's nothing in a screen protector that can cause hand pain.
