Q: Charging accessory not supported by apple watch

My missus brought me an Apple watch from the states and I got the watch on sunday. I'm UK based.

I've looked at other discussions and can't really find a sturdy solution. As you may have guessed its the charging problem with the apple watch.

I've tried the mains and my laptop but still the same problem. I've even hard reset the watch and still,  It'll charge for about a min and then a message will come up on the screen again.

Can someone who has/had the same problem and got it resolved tell me how they went about fixing it please, not even a week and there's problems ='[

Thanks Crowed

Press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple Logo.

    Then try charging.

Are you using the genuine Apple Magnetic Charging Cable and - when using mains power - a genuine Apple USB Power Adapter?

Both the iPhone and iPad chargers (5W and 12W) are also compatible with the cable.

If you need to buy additional power accessories, you can get them online from the Apple Store:

    http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/watch/watch-accessories/power-cables

If you are using genuine accessories, have tried a Force Restart (press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo), but are still having problems, then contact Apple Support. However, be aware that the warranty terms specify that cover may be restricted to the country of original purchase.

Check also that you have definitely removed all plastic wrapping from the head of the charger cable (check closely).

I have been going through this issue for nearly three weeks.  after extensive online support time with apple they decided it was the charger and sent me a new one.  I was certain it couldnt be that, because we have at least six of those apple chargers in the house from various iphones, ipad minis, etc. and I had tried them all, using the same induction charger cable that came with the phone. So i thought it more likely to be the cable, but all they sent was the charger/transformer.  I tried it anyway, and amazingly it worked and the phone started to charge.

I thought the problem was solved  but that night when i plugged back in to charge again, I got the same error, (see picture):

I tried hard and soft resets, unpairing and re-pairing, different transformers, etc, but no way would it charge. So the next day I called apple again.  we went through an hour or so of trying everything and eventually the rep decided to send me a replacement watch. (they put a $400 charge on your credit card till you send the original one back, and charge you $117 for shipping and handling that you don't get back, even after buying Applecare plus).

In the meantime, still convinced it is the cable, not the charger, (which the apple rep says is unlikely), I discovered I could order a replacement cable online directly from Best Buy, which I did. The cable arrived today, (replacement watch hasnt arrived yet). Guess what! it is charging just fine (so far.)

So i am pretty sure it is a fault with some of the induction cables. When I get the new watch I will test it with both the old and the new cables to get an absolute determination of whether it is the watch or the cable.  Either way the message is clearly a bug, since the "accessory" in question is original Apple equipment, and so if it is failing there should be a different message.

So I am getting this message while WEARING my Apple Watch. As far as I know, I do not have an inductive charging wrist.

    Rather disappointing...

    Hi

It may help to restart your Apple Watch: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag the slider to turn off; then press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Just started happening to me as well. Downloading latest update to see if that changes things. Anyone got any other ideas?

If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your power accessories and/or watch checked under warranty:

Hi Jonathan, it cannot be a peripheral, it must be the watch as when it happens it is when I lift my wrist to look at a message/time etc. Only happened twice in the last 2 weeks

Apple Support will advise which items should be checked.
