Mar 30, 2016 9:28 AM in response to Lifeonastaveby teryg,I have the same problem and it really is time-consuming. The Mac says the Finder is using the external drive. I've tried restarting the Finder but that makes no difference. All I can do other than Force Eject is shut down the Mac, disconnect the drive, then turn the Mac back on. Having to do this several times a day is ridiculous.

Mar 30, 2016 10:08 AM in response to Lifeonastaveby Old Toad,If you're still running 10.11.3 I suggest you download and apply the OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Combo Update as it has fixed a number of bugs in the system and in the included applications. Then try again. Event if you're running 10.11.4 apply the Combo updater. Combo updaters have been known to fix problematic installations.

Apr 5, 2016 5:34 AM in response to Old Toadby teryg,What Old Toad suggested worked for me. It's been days since I ran the Combo Updater and have so far not had another problem ejecting my external drives. Thanks!
