Q: Problems with Mail app after updating to iOS

I updated iOS on April 3rd on my iPhone 5C. I was expecting 2 very important emails that were sent yesterday (April 4th) and they turned out to be in my spam folder, so from my iPhone's Mail app I selected them and clicked on "move to..." then "inbox". Now my emails are not in the spam folder nor inbox. I used my computer to look in All Mail, Spam, Trash, and everywhere (I even looked in Drafts and Sent even though it didn't make sense) from the Gmail website, I tried the search function selecting "all mail, spam, and trash", and also "in:anywhere". I followed the steps in the Gmail's Help section for missing emails. They are nowhere to be found and I'm freaking out because I need that info and the sender can't resend them. I've read that I'm not the only one with missing emails after updating iOS, and I already deleted my gmail accounts from all Apple Mail apps (iPhone, iPad, Mac) to avoid further damage, but is there a trick to get them back?

iPhone 5c, iOS 9.3.1
