Apr 5, 2016 8:42 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby SeeingLightMedia,Thank you Tom for you response, I am very grateful.
The project is 1080p HD, 23.98 fps. This weekend we are having a significant event for a couple hundred people in attendance. The projector we're using will display 720p. We're also intending to have the video available for smaller presentations (via projector, flat screens, tablets/mobiles, and web). So I thought 720p HD export would be good across the board. I prefer keeping it 1080 since many mobile devices and computer screens/Tv's are capable of 1080 or higher resolution, however there's a number of my co-workers who's systems chug at anything more than 720.
What's really got me is how the titles get completely altered...

Apr 5, 2016 9:04 AM in response to SeeingLightMediaby Tom Wolsky,I suspect that's a scaling problem with the masks. The compression shouldn't do that. Rather than sending the project to Compressor, you might try creating a master file that's ProRes 720p. The high quality master should give excellent results for projection. Use Compressor to batch process the various formats for web and mobile devices from the master file. The fine lines are too thin to look good in low resolution media, and unless you use high data rates, which seems to be a problem for your customers, the graphic effect at the beginning of the title is not going to come out.

Apr 5, 2016 10:22 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby SeeingLightMedia,Thank you again Tom for taking time to help me trouble-shoot. Very appreciated.
I did a Master File in 1080 from FCP X (I did not see how to "share" as a Pro Res 720p). Needless to say, it's is the highest quality export option in FCP. The titles are still butchered the same as before and are not displaying as they do in the fcp application during playback.

Apr 5, 2016 10:28 AM in response to SeeingLightMediaby Tom Wolsky,LLooks like there's a bug in the masking somewhere, which doesn't surprise me because there's a bug in Shaoe Mask. Might have to find a different way to create the effect. Would it be possible to create a new library with one project with one clip and the title and any components needed for the title. Could you zip that and upload it somewhere like Dropbox. I'd love to have a look at it.

Apr 5, 2016 1:19 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby SeeingLightMedia,Here's another screen recording that's still got me befuddled. In a new library the problem appears to go away. Only, that doesn't help unless perhaps I copy the entire project into a new library and maybe the problem will go away. The other thing is, I may just be able to take the shape mask effect off the clips, only I feel it eases the look for some of the clips - but isn't absolutely necessary. It's more a matter of principle that I can't get the editor to do what it is supposed to be able to do. It takes up time, grief and creativity. Really kills workflow.
Here's a link with the fcp title test library via Dropbox:

Apr 5, 2016 2:23 PM in response to SeeingLightMediaby Tom Wolsky,Dropbox doesn't handle the bundle properly and treats it as a folder. Can you zip the bundle before you put it on Dropbox. Thanks.

Apr 7, 2016 7:44 AM in response to SeeingLightMediaby Tom Wolsky,Thanks. The problem is in the Shape Mask as I mentioned before. It doesn't hold it's size on export. Replace it with a Draw Mask, probably B-spline would be easiest for what you're doing.

Apr 7, 2016 9:37 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby SeeingLightMedia,Tom, I really appreciate your looking into this. Do you suppose Final Cut/Apple will be fixing these bugs? These work-arounds really begin to hinder creativity and work-flow.
Again, your help is much appreciated!

Apr 7, 2016 9:42 AM in response to SeeingLightMediaby Tom Wolsky,IM sure it'll be fixed eventually. Not sure where it might be on a priority list. Using feedback to add to the list of those you've reported it would help.
