Q: El Capitan reinstall

I have a MacBook Air, about nine months old. My previous Macs have all been wonderful! But this one is having continual problems. First it restarted every 1-2 hours without warning, which I assume is a kernel panic. Over the months it's gotten worse. Once I downloaded El Capitan, it all seemed to go away--then a few days ago it crashed and I had to use Time Machine to recover my stuff (which I am NOT happy about so close to finals).

My main question right now is how to reinstall El Capitan. Apple remembers that I've already installed it and won't do it again even though Time Machine brought back Yosemite. Longer term, though, how do I stop these kernel panics and crashes? I've tried everything I know how to do, even some spyware.

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
