Q: ignore accidental trackpad is not there

I've resorted to turning of tap to click on my trackpad.  I am not happy with that, though.  Hopefully someone knows a solution, or Apple will add the option back into prefs.  Anyone?

OK, if Apple claims the "ignore accidental" is enabled by default, doesn't that imply that it can be changed? "Default" doesn't mean much otherwise. Maybe their default is incorrect, or can be adjusted.

I'm still pretty new to Macs, but I wonder if there's an equivalent to a Windows registry edit to change it.

It really bugs me. I have to keep turning the "tap to click" on and off to get anywhere with this thing.

APPLE PLEASE ADD A USER CONFIGURABLE TIME DELAY to trigger the trackpad to activate after a second or two after a user has typed the last key that they press down on.  It's not that hard.  User types any key, on key-up time starts, after a configurable millisecond/second delay, the trackpad works. But disregards swipes made while a user types. If we can set the preferences to use a slider to change the delay duration, from milliseconds to seconds, that would allow for some people who type fast and others who do it slow, that would work.

Or make it so you have to press harder, while typing. to get the Track pad to work. 

I bought a Macbook with the fancy new keyboard, which is meant to make it easier to type.. but is worse than ever. When I type each key, it makes the kind of noise I used to associate with someone bashing their PC keyboard out of anger. It wakes people in my house up. Seriously. Every paragraph or so, the palm of hand below my thumb passes too close to the trackpad and moves my cursor to new places as I try to type a single line of text.  Sometimes pressing the SPACE bar makes the cursor jump.  I do not have fat fingers or hands.

I can't even begin to say how disappointing it is to think I paid much more... for the extra quality and trust that I would like to think I will get when I buy the latest Mac from a brand I trust. But I am finding it's worse than EVER before.  On my Macbook Air I NEVER had this issue.  On the Gold MacBook, it's awful. Quite upsetting. And no I really won't buy another mouse or external trackpad so I can type uninterrupted. That's simply not acceptable.
