Dec 24, 2014 11:11 AM in response to zac223by striders,I have iTunes 12.01.26 on Yosemite. I click on my name on the top right and click "Purchased", then "Apps".
I cannot drag the app to the trash. Right clock does not work either. I can click on the app and hide it. Apple must have updated iTunes as of December 2014 to prevent purchased app being deleted.
The reason I want to delete apps is because I have some really, really old apps that I no longer use (think from iPHone 3GS days). It is now cluttering the list and it is really hard to search for purchased app when I am on my iPhone. Not sure why Apple is preventing users from deleting the apps from the Purchased list.

Dec 24, 2014 11:59 PM in response to stridersby King_Penguin,You can delete apps from the Apps part of your Mac's iTunes library (just select/highlight them and press the delete button on your keyboard), and you can hide them from the Purchased list so that they don't show in the cloud for redownloading (you can't permanently delete them from your purchase history, you can only hide them) : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.

Dec 25, 2014 12:22 AM in response to King_Penguinby striders,I know how to delete DOWNLOADED apps in my iTunes library. But if you'll ow my steps above, what I want to do is delete apps from my Purchase history. Like I said, this just clutter my Purchased list when accessing it from my iPhone.
I am just baffled Apple wont let us delete old apps from the purchase history. 5 years from now, most people will have hundreds, if not thousand of apps going back from 2009.

Dec 25, 2014 12:25 AM in response to stridersby King_Penguin,You cannot delete them, you can only hide them - that will stop them showing in the Purchased links for redownloading
As far as I know Apple haven't said why you can't

Dec 25, 2014 12:47 AM in response to King_Penguinby striders,Yeah, I am not holding my breath for Apple to said why...
Interestingly, I bought an app a while back and the developer pull it out from the App store. Even though I paid for it, it's no longer available for me to download. I didn't know this until I got a new iPhone and tried to reinstall the app. THAT app should still be available for people who bought it. You know, just like I still have my Starcraft original CD even though it's outdated...

Apr 22, 2015 8:41 PM in response to userremovedby Reidrocks,Bit I've tried that constantly, just hides them on one side of the screen! It just moves it over to the other side!

Apr 22, 2015 11:39 PM in response to Reidrocksby King_Penguin,There is a bug on iOS devices that means that hiding them directly on a device doesn't work, you need to do it via your computer's iTunes : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support - on the current version of iTunes the 'x' is invisible, another bug, but the process for hiding them should still work i.e. click on the app's top left corner where the 'x' should be.

Nov 4, 2015 2:15 AM in response to yosefsnipesby RussBroom,Thank you yosefsnipes
You'll be pleased to know that this still works, though the cross no longer shows up.
Just hover over the top left corner of the app in question until the cursor changes, and then click.

Sep 27, 2016 10:38 AM in response to Michigan-iPhone5by natvanhat,This works. You can still use the app on your device. No need to enable family sharing.
