Q: Calendar making new calendars every sync!
My El Capitan Macbook Pro duplicates all the icloud calenders stored on icloud. So I have 5,6,7 duplicates every sync. This also is happening on reminders. So i have 5, 6,7, 10 duplicates for reminders on my macbook. This number continues to grow.
Steps I've taken,
1. verified on icloud that each calendar exists only once on my icloud account.
2. verified my iphone doesn't have any duplicate calendars.
3. rebooted iphone 6. Signed out of icloud on iphone 6, then signed back in. Then restarted again. Also verified that "All" is checked under calender app settings on iphone 6.
4. there are no other devices connected to my icloud account besides the mac book and iphone 6.
5. Rebooted the computer.
6. Disabled/reenabled calendar sync with icloud, and reminders, also in calendar app on macbook: EDIT menu REFRESH CALENDARS
7. Signed out of Icloud on the computer, then signed back in. This was quite the hassle because of the 2-factor auth.
8. Rebooted computer again.
9. unchecked duplicate calendars in my calendars in ical app on macbook. (which works but new ones keep getting added)
10. All calendars are duplicated multiple times
11. On icloud.com - signed out all devices and then signed them back in one by (again hassle with 2-factor)
12. My contacts are duplicated as well with no separation. Like calendars you can uncheck a duplicate calendar and at least the duplicate events are gone until it adds another one.
13. I'm not positive but these problems began I believe when I updated my iphone most recently. I think it was right after I was prompted to add 2-factor auth.
I worked through these steps in each article to no avail
