Q: Issues Saving iPhoto Book to PDF

Hi, I am preparing to upgrade my operating system, but I know that when I do that my projects in iPhoto will not survive the transition to Photos.

I tried to order an iPhoto book to be printed and got the following response a few days later:

Due to an error when your order was submitted, your image file is unreadable or unprintable.

I followed the suggestion to save the book to a PDF, and indeed, when I tried that, most of the pages were corrupted. I have tried twice.

Is there anything to be done? I would really like to keep this book, at least in PDF form if not hard copy. It looks lovely on iPhoto and I spent a lot of time on it when I created it several years ago.

How are you trying to make the PDF?  If this is not it use the Apple suggest method - Preview a print project in Photos or iPhoto to avoid issues - Apple Support

and Apple stopped accepting orders from iPhoto as of the end of March 2016

what kind of corruption are you seeing? You can try backing up your iPhoto library and then holding down the option and command keys while launching iPhoto and repairing permissions and then rebuilding the database - that might help

Try the following with your iPhoto library:

1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.

    2 - apply Option #4, Rebuild Database.

3 - try creating a PDF file of the book according to the document that Larry provided a link to.  If  it's satisfactory you can look at online book provider PrestoPhotos which advertise that they can print and bind books from the PDF file created by iPhoto.

I've not tired it.  If you do order from them post back with your evaluation of the book so others can learn a bit more about their books.
