Q: Verification failed : There was an error connecting to apple id server

After updating to iOS9 I can not sign into iCloud and restore my backup. Now I do not have access to anything on my iPad air. Any way to fix this?

I have an iPad Mini, up to date as of today, and this problem occurred.  The solution of signing out and back in to Apps/iTunes worked for me.  I also restarted the iPad.

I had a similar issue, frustrated me so.

I didn't realise my iphone though connected to Mac still needed internet connection for it to access iCloud and Apple.

Sounds very silly, but thats the answer.

I have same issue on iPhone 5, tried many posts without success then I figured out it's simply not connected to wifi.  I connected the iPhone to a wifi and was able to turn off the Find my iphone.

My iPhone 5 still says it cannot connect to iCloud server. I've tried the following:

    - Logged off and reconnected to WiFi

    - Reset time and date

    - Changed apple ID password

    - Logged off through iTunes/App store and tried to log back in

    - Tried logging in to iCloud using only cellular data

    - Turned off all VPN-related apps

    - Reset network settings

My phone is backed up on iCloud, I'd like to restore it through iTunes, but because I can't access iCloud settings through my phone, I can't shut off Find My iPhone and it just stops there. This catch-22 merry go round is driving me nuts!

This helped after all else failed. Resetting the network did the trick.

    Thank you

How do you reset the network? my iPad says it's connected to my usual network, however I keep getting that same error "There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server". Apple support said the servers were up and no maintenance was scheduled, nor has it been down at all today and I still can't get past iCloud log in. I fixed the time, changed my password, and finally ended up manually restoring my iPad with the help of Apple support. But it is stuck on iCloud sign in now, from the iPad set up post-restore.
