Q: Read & Listen Edition Glitch

Ever since the upgrade to iOS 9.3.1 the Read & Listen edition Dr Seuss books we have for the little ones are malfunctioning.

The words no longer highlight as the narrator reads. And while the page is turned automatically, the narration doesn't begin on the new page... So we're just stuck unless we tap "Stop Reading" and then "Start Reading" again on every page.

    Hello jalaw13,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand you're having an issue with the narration on a book purchased from the iBooks Store on your iPad.  To get started I suggest that you delete the book from the device, and then redownload the book.

    Delete books and audiobooks

Remove books or audiobooks from the iBooks app using the steps below:

    1. In the upper-right corner, tap Select.
    2. Tap the books you want to delete.
    3. Tap Delete.
    4. Tap Delete This Copy.

Delete music, movies, apps, and other content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

To free up storage on your device while keeping your library organization, tap Delete This Copy. The copy of the book on that iOS device will be removed, but the cover of the book will remain in your iBooks library with a cloud icon visible in the upper corner. To download the book again, just tap the book cover.

    Take care.

I Had to do lots of more recent "research" on my own account cos had problems with my  iPad Air2  from about week 1, 2 yrs ago.

Poor Apple Ive been blaming and contacting them all the time. Suddenly it totally dawned on me the other day - it's not totally Apples fault - the independant app OS writers previously kept saying the same apps were suitable for iPhone and iPad from version IOS7 onwards basically. WRONG!

Although APPLE USED THE SAME Version numbers to their  iPhone and iPad updates - they confirmed to me when I pushed the matter, that there WERE  subtle differences between IOS for iPhone and IOS for iPad.  However, there were no OS differences in the bought apps from AppStore! Didn't matter whether you chose iPhone or iPad Apps!  That why many apps bought for iPad weren't working properly!

After the the new Apple launch last month, which yes I watched live and heard it said that ALL previous newer and new models would have the same IOS 9.3 update within days of the launch! Yes we did - I loved the updates - following daŷ iPad went pear shaped again! Back to Apple support online, a couple of minor fixes sorted some things but still not all. My iPad luminosity doesn't darken now as dusk starts - it did 1st day!

last night on my own account again, I decided to start deleting paid for AppStore apps and reinstalling - it worked, on specific Apple ones I've not lost info I had before and not had to repay! There are still some App manufacturers though that have NOT done the same with ALL their for iPad/iPhone OS - so start nagging your app manufacturers as I did today with Weather Live - same delete / reinstall answer came back from them and had worked because I'd just done it before receiving their reply just re-jigged the info I want from that app! ! Hope this helps all iPad Users! I don't use, have, and never owned an iPhone - so that's hoŵ I realised what was happening! Now I hope Apple will reinstate my original and disappeared app for FaceTime on my iPad!

have you tried deleting the read and listen version and then downloading it again. I've had to do that with other apps haven't looked at my iBooks yet - so it might be worth doing so  - I'll see what happens!
