Q: Backup of IPhone doesn't work

I tried a backup of my new iphone using itunes and when i connect it tells me i don't have the current version of itunes. I downloaded the current version for my Mac Mini (11.4) and it still gives me the same message. I have a Mac mini running OSX 10.6.8.

Mac mini (Mid 2007), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

The current version of iTunes is 12.3.3. It requires OS X 10.8.5 or higher.

A mid 2007 Mac Mini can't run anything higher than 10.7.5.
