Q: iPhoto access

Okay so I have recently updated my iMac to the OS X El Capitan and I needed to use iPhoto today and tried to search for it but it wasn't available and said that I had to update to the version compatible with OS X El Capitan version thing but i went to the app store and it said that it isn't available in the Indonesian app store?? So I don't really know what to do now, should I download the old version? How to do that as its not there in the app store and will it even work in this OS? I don't know like I have all the new and old versions(iWork '09) of Pages,Numbers, and Keynote except iPhoto that has none of the versions and  I really needed iPhoto for importing photos to iMovie(which is an old version as I think you have to pay for the new one) for a school project. help please?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), iMac(late 2009)

Apple stopped the developement of iPhoto and is not selling it anymore.  Updating iPhoto using the Updates tab at the AppStore does not work in any country any longer.

You need iPhoto 9.6.1.  It is the only version compatible with El Capitan.  You can update to this vesion by reinstalling iPhoto as described by Barney:  See this link on how to update iPhoto to version 9.6.1:   Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

But it is only possible, if your iPhoto version is an AppStore version. It needs to be showing in your Purchases history at the App Store.

If it is not possible to update, use the Photos for Mac application that comes with MacOS X 10.11.4 instead of iPhoto. It can open your iPhoto Libraries.

See:  How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

iPhoto is probably still in your Applications folder.  If the icon looks like this, the version is not compatible with El Capitan.
