Q: Eizo EV2455: what are the best settings to reduce eye fatigue? Other minor problems...

Hello everyone, I recently bought, after trying others monitors (Dell P2214H and the same EIZO EV2450), an EIZO EV2455 monitor, 24 ", 16:10, connected via mini DP-DP to a Mac Mini Late 2012, i7, with El Capitan. Use for office environment, editing and reading documents, pdf, web ...

1) What are the best settings to not tire the eyes??? Compared to mod. EV 2450 I notice a bit of burning eyes. I bought because it doesn't burn your eyes and reduces eye fatigue.

2) Now, I notice that when I put the Mac to sleep or turn it off, for a fraction of a second, when the Mac mini disconnect the video connection, sprouting vertical stripes at the very moment in which disappears the desktop background. I repeat the whole process takes a fraction of a second, with the DELL has not happened. It is a question of compatibility or video card? At power no problem, the background is activated immediately without bands. Same problem with Eizo EV2450.

3) Add that, compared to the mod. EV2450, I no longer monitor preferences in the ability to activate the monitor icon on the bar of state, but only Air Play or dubbing menu. Why?

Thanks

Sorry for my english!

Monitors and people's eyes ae different. Just play around with the setting and find what is best for you.

How monitor handle losing signal depends upon the monitor. Tus, yo are seeing how the Eizo handle it. Nothing you can do.

I do not understand what you mean by the bold text in "monitor icon on the bar of state, but only Air Play or dubbing menu"?

    ."?

    Refresh @ 59Hz. Shouldn't it be at 60Hz? Later I send screenshots...

If yo have an AirPlay device you  get the AirPlay icon in the menu bar. From there you can easily access/click on Display Preferences.

I only have 60 Hz available for my two monitors. If yo only have 59 Hz it could either be due to a rounding error or that the monitor does not want to use 60 Hz. With CRT monitors there were problem with 60 Hz refresh and florescent light.

Then on System Preferences you can't change the refresh rate, it is locked at 60Hz. On system profiler 1920 x 1200 @ 59Hz. Why? Is an error? If I add consulting the monitor's OSD information see FH 74.2 Khz FV 60.0 Hz FD 154.1 MHz. What do you think?

The 59 vs 60 Hz seems to be a round off error.

I tried using the DVI connection. This is the result in monitor informations:

    DVI 1920x1200

    74.0 KHz

    59.8 Hz

    153.6 MHz

    Schermata 2016-04-09 alle 10.43.35.png

With DVI connection when I turn off or put it to sleep the mac mini, I don't see split second vertical stripes disappear when the background, but the monitor doesn't seem to have a full 60Hz refresh. I have no preferences in the monitor plus the value of blocked refresh.

DP instead the values were the following

    74.2 Khz

    60.0 Hz

    154.1 Mhz

    So what's the best connection?

Better DP with vertical stripes in shutting down or stop?

    Thanks
