Q: Faces are not getting synchronised completely between Mac - iOS-Device

Hi everyone,

I´m using iCloud fotolibrary and everything seems to work perfect but there is one problem I don't understand.

If I look at the number of faces of one contact at my mac and my iPhone there is a difference. How is that possible when iCloud fotolibrary synchronises all pics of the normal projects and moments correctly?

I hope someone can help or knows the fact why there is a difference.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

How are you comparing the numbers of faces, since there is no Faces album on the iPhone?

iCloud Photo Library is not syncing the Faces albums, just searchable faces tags.

You can search in photos for the name you want to see the faces. And there you can see it.

You can search in photos for the name you want to see the faces. And there you can see it.

But the search field will not necessarily be showing only the faces tags.  It will show all photos where any text contains the faces name. if you compare the number of photos in a faces album on your Mac to the number photos found by a search on your iPhone, it will not necessarily be the same.

But where can you set the faces name to a photo. Only at the face category on the mac I think. So how does the search get the information?

I thought it has to be the same.

The search on your iPhone is searching for any text - it could also be title, captions, s or keywords stored with the photos.

iCloud does not even sync the faces albums to a different mac. I you restore your Photos library from iCloud to a Mac, you have to assign all faces again.  What iCloud does sync are searchable faces tags (like keywords), but not the position of the faces thumbnail in the photo.  As you cannot tell the iPhone to search for a face but just enter a search string, it will find any mention of the same text, keywords, captions, any text associated with the photo.
