Q: Mac is unable to transfer files to Windows hard drive

Format the drive for your Mac. It is now formatted NTFS for Windows. Mac computers can not write to NTFS formatted drives.

The drive is probably formatted as NTFS. The Mac can read the files but can not save files to an NTFS formatted drive.

The files on the drive will be deleted when you format.

You are correct. The reformatting will delete all the files from the disk.

Before you reformat the drive you should make a complete backup.

Connect a 2nd external hard drive. Drag all the files from the first drive to the second drive.
