Q: Black video screen in Safari

Hi all,

Just updated to El Capitan yesterday, after holding off for ages and no issues, only to discover this morning videos (excluding YouTube) do not show up at all in a certain site I use (afl.com.au) but show a black screen. Doesn't have a 'Safari Low-Power Mode' thing up top, just straight black, nothing to click on.

I've uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and reinstalled, but to no avail. I'm stumped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, also just found out that the Mail app is completely gone. Doesn't load. That'll teach me to upgrade OSX again. NEVER AGAIN. EVER.

Check your Applications folder for the Mail application. If it's not in the Applications folder, you can search using Spotlight. Click the magnifying glass icon top right in your screen then type in: Mail

As for the Safari video issue, you may have an extension or third party plug-in installed that was compatible with the prior OS X, but not El Capitan.

Troubleshooting help ..

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If there are any extensions installed, uninstall one at a time then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Sorted the Mail issue through another thread. Thanks though.

Have done as you've suggested, to no avail. There were no Extensions installed and I Deselected Allow plug-ins.
No response or change. Most other video sites work, just not that one.

Still not working - contacting the website owners themselves, perhaps they might have the answer.

Most recent updates must have done something, either way this issue is now resolved - finally. That said other issues have occurred. 5k iMac restarting/immediately shutting down. *sigh*. Something has to go wrong with every update, I swear.
