Q: Airdrop / Bluetooth issues after iOS 9.3 & OS X 10.11.4 updates

I updated the operating systems of my mid 2012 non retina MacBook Pro and iPhone 6 this past week and it seems to have wreaked havoc with the bluetooth settings. I can no longer AirDrop files between my phone and laptop (worked perfectly fine before the updates). I have already unpaired (‘forget this device’), restarted and tried to reconnect the devices and even did a nvram reset but nothing seems to help. Does anyone else have this issue? Any idea how it can be remedied?

I cannot speak to your specific problem, but a person I know has used Airdrop between a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.11.4) and an iPad (iOS 9.3). That person told me that both Bluetooth and wi-fi needed to be on...and Airdrop enabled on both devices.

I am facing exactly the same issue with exactly the same version numbers as you between my iphone and mac. Talking to apple support rep right now, who acknowledged the issue, but is trying to figure out a solution.
I'll post the solution if it works out.

I have the same issues. Airdrop not working between iPhone 6's and IPhone 5s or between iPhones and MacbookAir. Done all the troubleshooting and a visit to the iStore. No luck. Waiting patiently for solution. 9.3.1 updated. No difference.

I'm also having this problem. I deleted my headphones from Bluetooth and reconnected, turned off Bluetooth and turned it back on again before finally restarting. Still no joy. Would love to hear a solution if anyone has one.

Same issue. I removed network plist, bluetooth plist. Fresh format and restore mac 10.11.4 as new Mac, reset PRAM, SMC etc. still no go.

I have the same issue between my iphone6 (ios 9.3.1), my iMac (OS X 10.11.4) and my MBP (OS X 10.11.3). FaceTime works fine between all three devices, as does iMessage. Both Macs can see each other via AirDrop, but neither can see my iphone.

Having the same problem with all iOS and OSX devices I use at home and at work. It's as if AirDrop is completely non-existent.

Also, be sure the software firewall on the mac is OFF.

Same... My iPad Mini and iPhone 5s recognise each other fine, but neither recognises my MacBook Air or vice versa. Infuriating. v10.11.4 and v9.3.1

How can a bit of tech work so badly for so long?

Got the same problem here. My airdrop and bluetooth is not working. My phone is iPhone 6s and I cannot use my bluetooth or search any other bluetooth. Please help anyone because I use airdrop so often lately.
