Mar 7, 2016 7:45 PM in response to nbarksonby KeithChung.com,I have a very similar issue. The switch on my iPhone 6 is hard to get into silent mode. I can get it there, but it seems like it's just barely holding on and will flick back to ring mode very easily.

Mar 23, 2016 10:53 AM in response to nbarksonby Satyam360,I have had the same issue. iPhone 6 plus. I assumed the switch was bad and as I last ditch effort before selling the phone I fixed it by using a swab with a bit of alcohol and a pin. Cleaning got it to work, but it is still not working all the time reliably. So occasionally I flip it several times for it to work. I also used a magnifying glass to really see into that tiny switch. It also took flipping it on and off a lot as I was cleaning. The switch is bad if it is easily prone to getting dirt in it and failing.

Apr 8, 2016 11:49 AM in response to nbarksonby pcherry,Thanks for the post; it's good to know how frequently this problem is occurring.
I per-ordered the iPhone 6S and received it Sept. 25, 2015. Just 4 months later (Jan. 16, 2016), I took the iPhone into the Apple Store Genius bar because it had 'phantom vibrations' in the absence of actual notifications, which turned out to be a problem with the vibrate/ring toggle switch. The phone was replaced.
Now the problem is beginning to happen again, only three months later, on the replacement phone. How unlucky! We'll see what the Apple Genius says this time.

Jun 13, 2016 5:17 PM in response to nbarksonby famanes,I would suggest using assistive touch. Go to settings. General. Accessibility. And turn Assistive touch on. There you will find a mute switch, maybe under device. I have personalized mine menu so it only shows me block screen, screenshot and mute. I have a broken power button on my i5

Aug 18, 2016 11:38 AM in response to nbarksonby Alex_someone,There is a way to manually turn your phone on and off silent in 'settings'. What you want to do is open up 'settings'. Then you go on 'general', then 'accessibility'. You scroll down a little bit and tap on 'assistive touch'. Enable assistive touch. What you want to do is then go to your home screen and press on the assistive touch button that comes up on your screen. From there you click on 'device' and there will be a button that allows you to 'mute' and 'unmute'. If you don't like using an assistive touch you can hair switch it off afterwards. Unfortunately you will have to repeat this process every time you need to mute or unmute your device , until you get the ringer button itself fixed or a new device. Hope this helps!
