Q: How to remove duplicate songs from iTunes Music folder.

I updated to the newest version of iTunes but found all my music had been removed. So, naturally, I went to 'file,' 'add to library' and selected all the music I wanted to import back into my Library. However, for some reason duplicates for EACH SONG have appeared in my library - I know how to remove duplicate songs one-by-one but will not be doing this over 1,000 times!

All my music is stored in the 'iTunes' folder found in 'Music' on my Mac. For some reason, in each of my music albums, there are duplicates for each song...I NEVER duplicated these songs and want to know how to remove these so when I import all my music into iTunes, I won't get duplicates.

Very frustrating, please help!

Try creating a new library. Quit iTunes then restart while holding down Option key, and choose Create new library.
Then open that library and do File / add to library. Navigate to the iTunes media folder and select what you want to add.
You can then delete the library with the duplicates.

Unless you have a backup from before your efforts, this may not be of help... it is what should have been tried before adding in the duplicates
