Q: Iphone 4 - Not connecting to wifi (incorrect password)

Hi there,

I seem to be having problems connecting my iphone to my home network, it keeps coming up with the error "incorrect password for STEVE_NETGEAR" - The strange thing is that i have two iphone 4's and the other one connects to my home network perfectly, so its just my one that does not - However, it still connects to other networks just fine, so its just my home network that it doesnt connect to... i really dont understand this issue... very strange! I've tried everything:-

1) Mac Filtering
2) Disable passkey
3) Used 128 HEx
4) Reset the iphone back to factory settings
5) Reset Network settings
6) Upgraded to 4.1 OS
7) Changed the SSID
8) etc, etc, etc

None of which resolved the issue, i'm at a loss as to how one out of the two iphones can connect and the other cannot... Why can it connect to all other wifi networks but not my own... Could it maybe be a conflict between the two iphones?

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help

Regards

SWM

    Crazy - I have spent the last week trying to work out this issue, including a visit to Apple Shop to check that all was well with the wifi. Could join a friend's home network, but after my router lost power and reset to factory settings, no account I set up (either resetting up the original one, or a new one) would my iphone join. Did everything mentioned... resetting router, resetting network settings (several times and in several orders with restarting router etc), upgraded the iOS, tried to add the iphone MAC address to my "allowed" list, resetting the allowed list, clearing the allowed list.... finally THIS solution of inputting the WEP key, not the password, and it works again... YAY!

    Hi CateDS,

    Thanks for posting the solution. Typing WEP password  helped me.

    Settings>General>others>wifi name>In security select WEP>password. It works

    Hmmm, It does work when setting the iPhone to WEP, even though the router password is WPA2... ***?

    Apple, in case you even care (chances are you don't), the setting should be:

    WPA2 <-> WPA2

    NOT

    WPA2 <-> WEP

    got it *********?

    Hmm and even this only worked once. ***! All my devices work flawlessly with this router (a Dell, an Ipad 2, a nexus 5, a MacBook Air, an AppleTV, but this iphone 4s is driving me nuts. Incorrect password? Incorrect device!

    I was reluctant to do this because it seemed too easy, but I tried, and it connected !! Thank you haha
