Q: Macbook Pro 3 beeps at startup/will not start

As a first step I would try replacing the RAM.

To upgrade memory in Macbook Pro:

Note: Macbook Pros are fussy about memory.

Did you try each RAM module independently in each RAM slot? This tests if there is a faulty slot in the MBP.

Note that an error free AHT is not conclusive.
A single 8 GB RAM module will work, but I recommend that you first determine why two modules do not work.

Right now you don't know whether this is the original RAM, and do not know if it ever worked properly.
If you get new RAM from a apple compatible supplier such as OWC or Crusial, this hopefully will allow you to say whether or not the RAM is at fault.
That is just my opinion.

That indicates that the RAM slot if faulty. Your best option is to make a genius bar appointment for a FREE evaluation.
