Q: Macbook Pro 3 beeps at startup/will not start
Okay, so I bought a 2011 Macbook Pro from a friend. She said it had some issues with it. Three beeps at startup, a quick google search showed that to be an issue relation to the memory on the macbook. So I tried some of the stuff that was suggested and had no luck.
What I have tried
- Reseating the ram modules
- Reset the NVRAM
- Reset the SMC
- Reinstalled OS X
Now, I tried moving the ram around as well. No luck. So I tried just using one of the ram modules, and it works by itself. So I tried the other one, it also works by itself. So both ram modules work independently, but not together. So my question is if this is still a bad ram module? Or is it an issue with the Macbook itself? If it is an issue with the Macbook itself, would a single 8gb ram module be an option?
Thanks for any input!
