Q: Why am I still seeing shared computers if sharing is off?

While traveling I noticed that a shared computer is listed under the shared tab, but I thought I had airdrop off, sharing toggles are all off and the only location service on is the find my mac. screen sharing is off, and only my home computer and administrators are on. Am I missing something?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), iOS 9.3.1

The Sharing setting applies to what you are sharing with others, not what others may be sharing with you.

When you connect to a network, devices on that network may be sharing. If they are, you will see these shares on your device. Since you have Sharing turned OFF on your device, others on the network will not see anything from your device. They might see your device but only because it's on the same network. If they try to connect to open a share, they won't see anything being shared.
